This weekend, my friends and I journeyed down to beautiful San Diego to see the first Material concert with their amazing new drummer Kevin Pintado work it on stage with our friends. Shooting with friends is always nice, so it was awesome getting to shoot with Stef Greenfield (I’m gonna make her get a website so you can all see how amazing her photography is. She’s getting into show shooting now too, so she’ll have that to post too :)) and we had a BLAST. I love the Epicentre for how many different angles I can get and I love The Material’s fans for always being so gracious and letting me squeeze up in front of and around them to take close pictures.

ALSO Thank you to EVERYONE who voted for The Material for the Rock Yourself To Sleep tour! They are one of the three winning bands and they take to the road with Every Avenue, The Secret Handshake, Sing it Loud and There For Tomorrow starting TONIGHT in West Hollywood at The Troubadour! Please come out if you can and support these guys, this is such a huge break for them and the more of us are out along the tour, supporting them loud and proud, the better! Let’s do this! All of the dates are on their myspace—which Jon just redid with the photos we shot together in May (which I’ll be posting once he puts them up on his space!) I hope to see your shining faces out there tonight at the Troubadour and then I’ll see you all, all over again, tomorrow morning at WARPED! Time for punk rock summer camp, y’all. Will I see you there?
The Material launched their new MySpace today featuring a handful of pictures from my two sets with them! Check them out and make sure to vote for them for Ernie Ball on the lefthand side!
Of course, the reason we made our pilgrimage to Simi in the first place was to see these amazing guys and gal up on stage, so without any further ado… The Material’s headlining show at 118 West in Simi Valley! If you get the chance please go vote for them in the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands!!

Had another great opportunity to shoot The Material this past weekend in Simi Valley. We met up before their headliner at 118 West and Jon and I did some exploring and found a great shooting space in their recording studio in the Attic, so we gathered the band and did some quickie, stripped down, promo shots. Then I got some good candids of them with fans and doing their set up for their performance. I also got one before and one after of the band with Noah as we bade him farewell and happy trails this weekend. Check them out and let me know what you think!

THE MATERIAL
:D Do it! These guys are amazing and deserve it! (Three cheers for my picture, too! :D)
This past Sunday, I had the incredible experience of heading down to San Diego with two of my favorite people, Josey and Pamela, to meet up with up and coming rockers The Material for both a promo shoot and to shoot a hometown show they were performing. Turns out the show was none other than My American Heart’s final show. I was really stoked because fellow photographer Ali Carcache just got me into MAH and I’d been hearing so much on Tumblr about My American Heart’s final shows and I couldn’t help but think how amazing it would be to get a little piece of rock history shooting a band’s final show. Well, of the five bands, I shot three—The Material (who I was there to shoot,) Misdelphia (who I shot at The Troubadour a month earlier with Cinematic Sunrise,) and of course My American Heart. Thanks to All Access from The Material I was able to get a lot of unique angles and awesome backstage shots during this amazing show. If you get the chance, check out The Material and Misdelphia—two amazing bands coming up out of SD! Enjoy!
