Every year I have the amazing opportunity to attend and work at Gina Starbuck’s phenomenal and inspiring American Cancer Society benefit, Art4Life. Every year, the talent gets more amazing and the giving goes deeper and it’s an amazing opportunity for the art and entertainment community in LA to give back to a truly worthy charity. I’m always really inspired by the event when I walk away from it and this year was no different. There were performances by some of the best dancers in LA, Karmagraphy, TOKYO, Phlex, Futhamuckas and more as well as musical performances by John West, Melissa Fahn, Marisa Guterman and others. The hosts, Heather Morris (Glee), Francia Raisa (Secret Life) and Ryan Hill kept things fun, funny and awesome. Without any further ado, here are my pictures from Art4Life 4!

Look at those beautiful Gleeks! I know this is from last year and has already been posted but I wanted to take a moment to let you guys all know that Art4Life is happening again this year for the FOURTH YEAR running and I’m so proud of Gina and her little show that could.
Art4Life is an event run every year in co-operation with the Arcadia Relay for Life to raise money for the American Cancer society in memory of those we’ve loved and lost and inspired by my dear friend Gina Starbuck and her own personal loss. Every year has gotten bigger and bigger and every show has gotten more and more amazing. A4L’s inaugural run featured Emcees Michael Urie (Ugly Betty) and Carol Kane (Hollywood and Broadway legend!). A4L2 featured a pre-Idol performance by 2009 runner-up Adam Lambert and smash recording artist Ferras, A4L3 featured antics from GLEE hosts Chris Colfer (Kurt), Amber Riley (Mercedes), and Dianna Agron (Quinn), and performances by rising stars Francia Raisa (Secret Life) and Bonnie McKee.
This year already has some amazing talent including GLEE’s Amber Riley returning to host alongside co-star Heather Morris (Brittany) and performances scheduled by up and coming recording artist Mateo, comedian Ryan Hill (for the fourth year running, he’s hilarious, don’t miss it) and dance groups Tokyo and Karmagraphy! Check it out it’s only $10 in advance, $15 at the door, held in Level 3 at Hollywood and Highland May 31, 2010. Can’t wait to see you there (I haven’t missed one yet!) I had the honor of spending Halloween documenting the first time in 23 years that all of the Collingwood family, Aunts, Uncles, Grandchildren, Children, Nieces, Nephews, Friends and Family were together complete with newest editions Annie and Katie. There was fun for all, from a trip to the Somis Nuthouse and a local pumpkin patch and petting zoo to carving pumpkins and a family trick-or-treat. And in between that there was food, family and Harleys. So here’s a glimpse into a holiday in the life of the Collingwood Nuthouse!
Saturday was my first job shooting an exclusive for SupJustin.com at the kickoff of the Hot Topic “Hello, My Name Is…” Series featuring Jersey, Alex and Cassadee from Hey Monday and Kevin, Rob and Brian of Stereo Skyline at the Stonesfield Galleria in San Francisco. It was a lot of fun and I got to follow the bands from stage to signing with exclusive access. Now that you’ve seen them on Justin’s blog, check them—and more—out here!
Hello, My Name is… Stereo Skyline and Hey Monday
Be sure to check out the “Hello My Name Is…” series when it comes through your town! (Cleveland, you get it on my birthday! Have fun out at Great Northern on 8/28!)
My first trip to San Diego Comic-Con International was an interesting one. The drive was way shorter than I’d heard it was (and for my mom’s concern, no I did not speed ;)) The day started early with check in at ten and was filled with Cosplayers (Costume Players) from Star Wars, Disney Movies, and various horror flicks along with every sci-fi movie and show ever conceived—and don’t forget the comics! Also many, many celebrities, from Sin City’s Jamie King to the cast of True Blood and the legendary Luke Skywalker himself— Mark Hamill. We even got to walk past Spock—Leonard Nimoy. It was quite an adventure with cool displays and cooler people. Thank you San Diego for the amazing time.

Just a little teaser of my Comic Con pictures before the gallery goes up! Enjoy!
Were you there? Did you have fun?

Communion, 1999.
Another from that studio workshop, my first studio children’s portrait. Everyone else went for the face, I went for the hands.
I love rediscovering old favorites on my desktop while the laptop is in repair, Aperture has been hiding some oldies but goodies.
Happy Belated Canada Day, Canada! (7/1)
Happy Independence Day, America!
Hope everyone’s enjoyed their holiday(s) and kept it safe.
Every year I’ve had the wonderful opportunity of attending, supporting and working at Art 4 Life down in Los Angeles. Every year, I’ve also shot the performances and this year was no exception as Art 4 Life 3 brought down the house at Cinescape Hollywood. The Emcees were comedian Ryan Hill and Amber Riley, Dianna Agron and Chris Colfer from the cast of Fox’s new hit comedy Glee. There were many returning performers including dance troupe Fanny Pak, Melissa Fahn, Warsaw Wow (Laura Dysarczyk and Michael Okarma) and Eden Espinosa. Some of the new faces this year were Other Duck fashions, Bonnie McKee, Aleks Pevic and troupes from Step It Up and Dance and So You Think You Can Dance, Marisa Guterman, Skyline, and many, many more.

Every year this is such a wonderful opportunity to not only shoot some amazing talent but also to help a good cause. If you haven’t before, please check out www.art4lifeca.com and give whatever time and money you can to helping amazing shows like this happen every year in the memory of Gina Starbuck’s father and everyone whose lives have been touched by cancer.
So tell me, what did you think?
Last week I had the wonderful opportunity and honor of shooting my first Bar Mitzvah for my dear friends in the Fahn family. It was beautiful to not only witness but record the final chapter of Harrison Fahn’s journey to become a man in his faith and his family through the ceremony and the celebration after. Thank you to everyone who helped me out during the day—Jennie, Jon and Melissa thanks for the opportunity, Patty thank you for walking me through the ceremony and making sure I didn’t miss the big moments. I hope that you enjoy my favorites from this wonderful day that was my first, but hopefully not my last bar mitzvah. Mazel tov, Harrison!
